Kimbell Art Museum- This is the museum of the masters. The Kimbell is ranked as one of the top five, small museums in the country. It is an easy walk between the Kimbell, the Modern, the Amon Carter and even the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame. It would also make for a full day of it! Modern Art Museum- When it first opened a few years ago, it was praised for its architecture, not its art. Since then the museum has had several, outstanding special exhibits and weekly special nights that make it a very entertaining place to tour. Also, the Cafe Modern has delicious, light lunches. Amon Carter Museum- American and Texas Art and Photography; also Western Art including Remington and Russell paintings and sculptures. There is never a charge to see this museum’s permanent collection. Bass Performance Hall- A special place to see the performing arts; not as large as it seems in pictures, but it will make you feel you are in a European symphony hall. Parking for performances is free in one of the two garages. Fort Worth Stockyards- If you can only see one thing in Fort Worth, this is it! The Visitors’ Center has an excellent, guided walking tour; it moves quickly but takes you places you wouldn't otherwise go in the Stockyards. Sundance Square- The downtown entertainment district of movies, live theater, shops, dancing, restaurants, and more. Parking is free downtown after 6:00 P.M. Most of the restaurants in the square can be very expensive. We can recommend better food at less cost. We also have free maps of the area to help you get around. National Cowgirl Hall of Fame- Lots of audio, video and animated displays make this fun and easy to tour. In addtion, you'll meet some very impressive ladies. Botanic Gardens- There is no charge for the Botanic Gardens, but the adjacent Japanese Gardens and the Conservatory have a small admission charge. Texas residents can pick up some great information on perennials and annuals in the Four Seasons Garden and in the Trial Garden. Water Gardens- A truly unique place; a must see (and free!) if you have time. Bureau of Engraving and Printing- One of only two locations responsible for printing all U.S. paper currency. A little drive from us, but one of the most fascinating places to see in Fort Worth. Sid Richardson Museum of Western Art- It’s size and layout make this a very easy art museum to go through and well worth the time if you enjoy Remington and Russell western art and sculpture. One of the only museums open in Fort Worth on Mondays. Fort Worth Museum of Science and History- Renovations are now complete, and this museum is bigger and better than ever. A portion of the museum is now the Cattle Raisers Museum, an outsanding display of the history and development of the Texas Cattle Industry . The Omni Theater is open and showing several, different movies at various times during the day. The main Science and History Museum is more family-oriented with lots of educational exhibits for children. The Cattle Raisers Museum will be more oriented to adults although the displays will intrigue children. Fort Worth Zoo- One of the top five zoos in the U.S. and the oldest zoo in Texas.
